Our Quality Policy

MAKTEL MAKİNA VE TEL SANAYİ A.Ş. has delivered precision spring manufacturing and application-specific engineering solutions in Istanbul since 1971.

01 Our Quality Policy

Our quality policy

In spring and precision metal component manufacturing, Maktel manages quality across every process — from understanding customer needs to raw material acceptance, from production to testing, and from shipment to post-sales feedback. Our IATF 16949 and ISO 9001-based quality system is supported by process control, testing and digital traceability. Our production target is zero defects.

Our quality commitments

As MAKTEL MAKİNA VE TEL SANAYİ A.Ş., we commit to the following principles:

  • Correctly understanding customer needs and expectations; complying with national and international standards, regulations and customer-specific requirements.
  • Ensuring product reliability and on-time delivery; adopting a preventive approach by identifying risks in advance.
  • Maintaining traceability and data integrity across all processes.
  • Continuously developing employees’ quality awareness and technical competence; managing suppliers as an integral part of the quality system.
  • Complying with environmental, occupational health and safety obligations.
  • Maintaining business continuity in emergencies, epidemics and extraordinary conditions in line with applicable national and international regulations.
  • Sustaining a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation and developing an innovative production mindset without compromising quality.

Quality control from raw material acceptance to shipment

Maktel runs raw material acceptance, technical drawing verification, process planning, production and in-process checks, final inspection and shipment approval according to defined quality criteria. Each process is followed in line with the relevant technical drawing, control plan, operation plan, work order and customer-specific requirements. Incoming raw materials are checked for material certificates, mechanical properties, dimensional conformity and required technical tests — critical production processes do not proceed until raw material properties are verified.

Automotive quality tools and process monitoring

Maktel actively applies the following methods to meet the quality expectations of the automotive and appliance sectors:

  • APQP — Advanced Product Quality Planning: plans technical requirements, production method, control plan and verification from project start to series production.
  • PPAP — Production Part Approval Process: documentation is prepared to customer requirements; conformance to the technical drawing and repeatability of production are verified.
  • FMEA — Failure Mode and Effects Analysis: product and process risks are evaluated and preventive actions developed.
  • SPC — Statistical Process Control: variation in critical characteristics and the stability of series production are monitored.
  • MSA — Measurement Systems Analysis: variability from equipment, method and operator, and measurement reliability, are evaluated.
  • IMDS — International Material Data System: material and content information is managed for automotive projects.
  • 8D — Systematic Problem Solving: the root cause is identified, a permanent corrective action is applied and recurrence is prevented.
  • VDA 6.3 — Process Audit: processes are assessed for risk, capability, control and continuous improvement.

Process performance in automotive and appliance production is monitored through SPC and process capability analysis (Cp/Cpk). Maktel adopted the ISO 9001 Quality Management System in 1995; this approach supports a shared quality discipline across different sectors.

Spring testing and measurement reliability

Depending on product and application requirements, Maktel carries out force, life/cycle, salt and corrosion, and hardness tests along with dimensional measurement and verification. A spring’s force value, fatigue life, material behaviour, tolerances and performance under working conditions are evaluated together.

Measurement and test equipment is included in calibration at defined intervals, with records and calibration dates tracked. Equipment that could affect measurement reliability is not permitted for use. Beyond the spectrometer, the laboratory’s main modern measurement and test equipment is kept up to date and calibrated.

Production records and digital traceability

Maktel digitally records every stage of production. The ERP/MRP, barcode, QR code, digital work order and data collection infrastructure preserves historical production records and allows them to be reviewed retrospectively — the system can even retrieve production information for a part made 15 years ago.

Nonconforming product control and root cause analysis

Suspect or nonconforming products are identified, segregated and quarantined; they are not returned to the production flow until evaluated by authorised quality personnel. For customer complaints and process nonconformities, Maktel uses 8D, root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action systems: the problem is defined and contained, the root cause identified, corrective action applied and its effectiveness verified. The goal is to prevent recurrence.

Supplier quality in outsourced processes

Approved external suppliers are evaluated and monitored against performance, quality and conformity criteria. Painting, coating and similar outsourced processes are managed through suppliers that meet Maktel’s technical and quality requirements.

Quality team and continuous improvement

Maktel’s 11-person expert quality team is responsible for implementing, recording and developing quality processes from the start of production through to shipment. Production performance, process indicators, customer feedback, quality results and internal audits are reviewed regularly; the quality team and relevant production staff take part in training and competence-development activities every six months. Internal audits, process audits and management review activities are carried out regularly.

The zero-defect target is supported by process control, risk analysis, training, traceability, testing, measurement and continuous improvement. Quality performance indicators are systematically measured, recorded and analysed.

Customer quality processes

At project start, technical drawings, customer-specific requirements, critical characteristics, documentation and approval requirements are reviewed. Control plans, first-article verification, measurement reports, material and process documentation, change management and series-production performance tracking are carried out according to project requirements.

Certificates and corporate documents

Maktel’s quality, environmental, occupational health and safety, and defence-industry infrastructure is supported by IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, the EYDEP certificate and the Facility Security Certificate.
